Abstract: Although Shun Xiaosi in “Hundred Filial Piety” in Huang Xiaoping of the Qing Dynasty used Mencius’ “Large Filial Piety” to refer to Mencius’s “Large Filial Piety”, the two are different. Differences between the sentimental and emotional concepts in “The Picture of Hundred Filial Piety”, and the philosophical questions included in “Mencius” about Shun’s filial piety are richer, with considerations of affection, righteousness and beyond the three principles. Mencius determined the value of the principle of affection and had his own preservation on it. Regarding the two difficult problems of affection and justice, Mencius believed that the principle of justice had limits on affection and love. In Mencius’ mind, political responsibilities are bounded and restricted, and the value of self-“finality” is higher than that of political ties. Mencius admitted that people had a political side to accept the destiny of heaven.
